Between its anime art style, free-to-play business model, and action RPG gameplay, Blue Protocol has long invited comparisons with HoYoverse’s hit gacha game Genshin Impact. But that’s as far as the similarities between the two seem to go, since Blue Protocol was actually envisioned as a full-fledged MMO that’s way too complex to be played on a touchscreen and hence won’t be releasing on mobile devices. Based on the promotional materials that Bandai Namco shared to date, Blue Protocol seems to be much closer to Sega’s popular 2012 MMORPG Phantasy Star Online 2 than Genshin Impact.

Blue Protocol is coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S in the second half of 2023.
