Secondly, Tales of Arise’s producer has previously stated that there would be no DLC or any plans for a direct sequel. Plans change, but this could also mean that this is something like a spin-off rather than a proper expansion of the story. It remains to be seen, but it’s an exciting prospect nonetheless.

On December 7, Bandai Namco trademarked “Tales of Arise Beyond the Dawn” with the EUIPO (the European Union Intellectual Property Office). With many curious as to what this means, it’s worth pointing out (thanks to Reddit user xselene89) that this was filed under Gaming, so it’s unlikely to be something like an anime. It seems more likely to be a pseudo-sequel spin-off, something more akin to Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World.
Many are hoping that this trademark suggests fans will learn about this at The Game Awards, though this is unlikely. It’s not impossible, but it’s not likely to see an IP filing take place the day before a proper reveal. What’s clear, though, is the very idea of more Tales of Arise content is welcome. Not only did Tales of Arise really bolster the franchise and establish its own community, but it proved itself as an excellent RPG in its own right. This made the initial news of new DLC or sequel plans a bummer, but it does seem fans are potentially getting something. And that is more than enough to light a fire under its fanbase, given the popularity of the title.
As we wrote in our Tales of Arise review, it is a “game designed for long-term Tales franchise fans and those who have never picked up a franchise entry before, where story, combat, and various features come together to deliver a high-quality, highly-detailed JRPG. All of that makes it not just one of the best JRPGs on the market today, but one of the best games hands-down.”
Tales of Arise is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
