Bang & Olufsen Launches Its New Bluetooth Speaker

Well-known and quality-focused speaker company Bang & Olufsen (B&O) has released a brand-new Bluetooth speaker. Named the Beosound Explore, this device is the company’s offering for a more durable speaker.

B&O’s Beosound Explore is made from aluminum, but looks a little like a baked beans can. From a company that’s known for its focus on design, this seems like a bit of an odd choice. However, the speaker grills from this design help to give 360-degree sound.

What Features Does the Beosound Explore Have?

Aside from looking a bit odd, the Bluetooth speaker comes with many of the features you would expect for a durable device. Each speaker comes with a carabiner clip for the speaker’s strap, so you can clip it onto a backpack or some funky walking trousers. With a small height of roughly 4.8 inches you can easily carry the speaker around.

The Beosound Explore has an IP67 rating, so is resistant to dust and water up to a meter. B&O also used scratch-resistant aluminum on the speaker, so you don’t need to worry about being careful with the device.

Looking inside the device, you’ll find two 1.8 inch drivers which B&O optimized for outdoor use. The company claims the drivers can deliver 59dB of bass in 360 degree sound from the speaker grill. That’s an impressive amount of bass for such a small speaker.

On the top of the Beosound Explore, B&O included buttons to control playback, the volume, pairing, and power. The speaker benefits from fast pairing with Apple, Google, and Microsoft devices when you do connect it. You can also use two of these speakers together for stereo sound.

B&O claims you can expect 27 hours of battery life on a charge at typical volumes (roughly 70dB), so is perfect for a weekend camping trip. When you do have to charge the speaker, you’ll find a USB-C port to do so.

The Beosound Explore is available for purchase from Bang & Olufsen now. The device retails for $199, and comes in three colors: black, green, or gray. However, the gray color will only be available later this summer.

Bang & Olufsen Enters the World of Durable Speakers

For B&O fans, the release of a new durable speaker is very welcome. And explorers will equally enjoy the option of having a high-quality durable speaker. Besides a somewhat questionable design, the Beosound Explore looks as though it’s a very good speaker.
